5. Conclusion

Summary of findings
The results obtained shows that bleach and detergent will give a false result as it reacts with luminol and glow.

Practical Applications
As luminol can be used in forensic investigation to test blood, this experiment can impact the society and also help the forensic department. When forensic scientists use luminol to test for traces of blood, the results obtained might be false as there are some other solutions that also react with luminol (like bleach). This experiment shows the results of different cleaning products that someone might use when cleaning blood. The results obtained are the cleaning products that give false results are bleach (Chlorox) and detergent (Ajax Fabuloso) and the forensic department has to take note of these solutions when they are using luminol to test for blood. Thus, they must use another test for blood to ensure accuracy.

Areas for further study
This problem could be investigated further by testing whether scrubbing would affect the results of the experiment and investigate the actual properties of the solutions.
The materials that are used for this experiment can be changed to other surfaces like the ground, table or the wall where blood would most likely stain during a crime scene.
The brand of the detergent, bleach and soap could also be varied, as they may use different ingredients that may or may not cause false results.

There are also other studies like testing which materials without blood would affect the experiment instead on focusing on the solution only.
